Introduction about six sigma event

It was in the year 2005 that the concept of Six Sigma Excellence Awards was envisioned by SCMHRD. The purpose was to acknowledge, encourage and honour the adoption of Lean and Six Sigma methodology in the industry. From a humble beginning with 37 companies in the first year, the 2008 edition of the awards saw year 2008 saw the globalization of the event with international participation from Iran and Sri Lanka. In the year 2009, the event had more than 60 participating organizations, showing their acumen & efforts for sustaining 'growth' and 'profit' through innovative cost cutting ways in the heat of slowdown. After the resounding success of last year, we proudly present LEAN AND SIX SIGMA EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2010. An approach well established to identify and eliminate defects, mistakes or failures in business processes or systems by focusing on those process performance characteristics that are of importance to customers. It has two basic methodologies- DMAIC and DFSS. Lean and Six Sigma Excellence Awards 2010 recognizes projects in two categories- DMAIC, DFSS. Starting with manufacturing today Six Sigma is being widely used across a wide range of industries like Banking, Telecommunication, Insurance, Marketing, Construction, Healthcare and Software. Hence each category is divided into three types, based on the processes involved – Manufacturing, Services and Support processes.
